Oscar-winning Moonlight star Mahershala Ali is onboard to star in season three of Nic Pizzolatto’s True Detective series IF it goes ahead!
There has been no official announcement from HBO but Programming President Casey Bloys told reporters “I have read five scripts for a third season” at the TCA press tour on Wednesday, before going on to say:
“I’m very, very impressed and excited about what I’ve read. I don’t want to give away the storyline, but I really think they’re terrific.”
Yet Mahershala Ali, who was far and away the best thing in the disappointing, black history spoon-feeding Luke Cage, instagrammed the above pic, which is proof enough for me!
I don’t need to go into detail about the difference in quality between season one and season two, suffice to say that Nic Pizzolatto thought it would be a good idea to replace season one’s The King in Yellow themes, bayou-setting, creole-vibes, supernatural-intrigue, existential ponderings, Woody Harrelson and MatMac’s palpable chemistry and THIS:
…with Colin Farrell’s moustache.
The spookiest thing about season two was and Vince Vaughn’s devil thumb.
If it does happen, True Detective Season Three won’t land til at least 2018.
