The BBC and FX have declared “I have a use for you” to Tom Hardy for his period drama, Taboo…
The “dirty brute” of a show, Exec Produced by Sir Ridley Scott and Tom’s dad, John “Chips” Hardy, ended with James Keziah Delaney and his unlikely band of whores, ne’erdowells, cutthroats and traitors headed across The Pond to America, sailing under the stars and stripes.
James and his motley crew must ultimately be headed for Nootka Sound, but one imagines they might make land on the eastern seaboard, because perhaps as far north as Boston or as far south as Virginia. From there, they’d make their way across the plantations of a country in its antebellum era and at the height of the slave trade… so plenty of friends and need and foes to be made along the way.
Writer Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) gave a hint as to how many series we’re in for: “We think it has got a two and a three certainly, that’s the plan. After that, who knows? This series is eight parts – it’s a lot of time.” while Ridley Scott added “We’re thrilled people want to know what happens next and that the BBC and FX are up for more adventures with the devil Delaney and the league of the damned.”
Taboo Season 2 is expected to make land in 2018.
