After Wednesday’s eleven second teaser, the real Inhumans trailer made its way from the superhuman’s moonbase to earth…
Not knowing the story of the Inhumans, I assumed they were similar to the mutants of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and this would be another small scale spin-off.
How wrong could I have been?
It’s not just the storyline that’s new and impressive, but the scale and scope of the project, the special effects (that giant CGI dog, “Lockjaw” looks goddamn real – expect a lot of CGI!) and the sheer grandiosity of the trailer demands your attention.
With heretofore unknown characters and their original-sounding plight, let’s hope Inhumans injects some fresh impetus into what many are saying is a flagging superhero genre.
I wrote yesterday that, with its Hawaiian location (the same Hawaiian location featured in another trailer released today) and with its Lost alum, this slightly camp-looking space melodrama looked a lot like my fave show of all time…
Well you can add Lost’s Henry Ian Cuisick, who plays Dr. Evan Declan. I just hope that with the themes of royal brothers betraying each other, it doesn’t become Flash Gordon from Game of Thrones visits Lost.
That said, it doesn’t seem to have Game of Thrones’ pomposity, which is a good sign. That Ramsey Bolton still can’t act, though!
The first two episodes of Inhumans will premiere on the 1st of September in IMAX theaters, arriving on TV on Friday, 29th September at 8 p.m. on ABC.
