Second in a long list of teasers, promos, sneak-peeks, previews and trails from San Diego Comic Con is SyFy’s Krypton, which tells the tale of Superman’s grandparents.
Well, we’ve had Superman, Supergirl, Superboy, Supergran and Superdog… if I had more time, I’d write a really cool post asking if there are no new ideas. I hope they use this theme tune.
If you don’t know what happened to the Man of Steel’s home planet, then get off my site – only joking. Well, half joking. The above picture may give you a clue… Zack Snyder inesplicably turned Superman’s planet into a scene from Avatar but he did get the look of the cities correct before they were blown to smithereens and SyFy looks to have done a similarly good job.
Before two days ago, I might not have taken a SyFy show seriously but after watching the fucking amazing Blood Drive, maybe it’s time to give them a chance.
Set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, Krypton follows Superman’s grandfather (Cameron Cuffe, The Halcyon) whose House of El was ostracized and shamed as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.
Damian Kindler (Stargate SG-1, Sleepy Hollow) is the man at the helm, while David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, Man of Steel) execs while the cast includes Ann Ogbomo (Wonder Woman), Georgina Campbell, Elliot Cowan, Rasmus Hardiker, Wallis Day and Aaron Pierre.
Krypton has no official release date yet, but will arrive sometime in 2018.
