Jack Ryan seems to have had more reincarnations than Doctor Who, James Bond and The Buddha put together, but who’s the lucky actor who’ll be playing him in Amazon Prime’s 2018 series?

From The Hunt for Red October through Patriot Games and The Sum of All Fears to Shadow Recruit, Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine have all portrayed Tom Clancy’s CIA Analyst, some better than others but now it’s John Krasinski’s (The Office USA, 13 Hours) turn.

Here’s the official blurb:

“When CIA analyst Jack Ryan stumbles upon a suspicious series of bank transfers his search for answers pulls him from the safety of his desk job and catapults him into a deadly game of cat and mouse throughout Europe and the Middle East, with a rising terrorist figurehead preparing for a massive attack against the US and her allies.”

Jack Ryan co-stars Abbie Cornish (the soon-to-be-released Geostorm) and Mr Wendell Pierce (The Wire) and is helmed by Lost alum Carlton Cuse (The Strain and Bates Motel) who promises the series will not demonise Islam.

The eight episode series from Paramount Television and Bad Robot will debut on Amazon Prime sometime in 2018.
