Unbelievably, it’s two years since we saw Hannibal and Will disappear in that literal cliffhanger. But today, showrunner Bryan Fuller has confirmed he is in talks with the actors and rights-holders for season four and he looked and sounded like a goddamned serial killer as he did so!
The amazing news came as he responded to a fan who was after an update on season four on Twitter, with Fuller confirming that the De Laurentis Company, which produces Hannibal, has begun talks.
The American Gods showrunner, who left Star Trek: Discovery after creative differences with CBS went on to say:
“I have conversations with Mads and Hugh. We’re all excited about the prospect of returning to the story. There’s some hurdles to get through… [but] I just had a great idea for season 4.”
Before continuing, and sounding more like Hannibal Lecter than Mads Mikkelsen, Anthony Hopkins or Brian Cox ever could;
“There’s an interesting next chapter in the relationship between Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter that would be fascinating to unpack. I’ve shared it with the gentlemen and they’re both keen on it.”
I mean who the hell refers their two lead actors as “the gentlemen?”
On second thoughts, if they’re as dapper as Nick Carraway and Jay Gatsby maybe he has a point!
Hannibal was perhaps the best show of the decade; unequalled in its imagination – cerebral, visceral and beautifully terrifying (as I always describe it) so Bryan Fuller can do whatever the fuck he likes… he can eat his gentlemen with some fava beans and a nice Chianti for all I care, so long as we get to see Will and Hannibal go toe-to-toe again.
Please, please, please let Hannibal return to our screens in 2018 or 2019.
