I’ve written many times that with its intelligent, Trump-bashing Antifa storyline and illusory, alt-right holographic dimension, Agents of HYDRA excelled in its fourth season. But the biggest WTF moment came when the last episode’s post-credits tease took us in a brave new direction…
If you don’t remember, after saving the universe, the team was arrested by governmental agents who said they had to hurry as “The window closes in two minutes.”
After the post-credits tease, Agent Phil Coulson woke up here:
He was certainly in space, but was it the same space we see when we look up into the night sky from earth, or was it another reality-hopping dimension?
Well, the most recent trailer for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., first seen at New York Comic Con suggests the majority of season five’s action does indeed take place within our galaxy.
I expect a crossover with the Marvel movie-universe – not as big as Hulk and Thor (who are now stranded in space heading towards Thanos’ ship) but some bigger picture, infinity stone/tesseract story.
The trailer is a doozy and features everything we’ve come to love from earlier seasons and more – Spaceships, blue-headed Kree, horror stories straight out of Aliens and Whedonesque dialogue with a knowing, self-aware wink… but will it live up to our expectations after the surprising season four?
Find out when the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. feature-length premieré lands on ABC on December 1st in its new, Friday night slot.
