The latest Dr Who spin-off has been a long time coming and today, the BBC released the premiere date, but there’s good and bad news for Whovians depending on which side of the pond you reside.

Class is set in and around Coal Hill School, Shoreditch – which made its debut in the very first episode. To put that in perspective, the show first aired the night after J.F.K.s assassination.

The Doctor’s frequent visits to the school throughout the series’ 53-year tenure have thinned the walls of space-time. Now four students Charlie (Greg Austin), April (Sophie Hopkins), Ram (Fady Elsayed), and Tanya (Vivian Oparah) and their physics teacher Miss Quill (Katherine Kelly) must The Doctor, who shows up in the pilot, help defend the earth.

Exec Producer Stephen Moffat describes the Patrick Ness penned show as a “British Buffy”

British fans get to see the first two episodes “For Tonight We Might Die” and “The Coach With the Dragon Tattoo” on BBC Three on Saturday, October 22.

U.S. fans will have to wait until 2017 when the series will accompany Peter Capaldi’s third season of Dr Who (and his new companion Bill) not that release dates mean much nowadays.
