After Season Four and Five’s sojourns to Pakistan and Germany, the next season of Homeland will see Carrie Mathison, Saul Berenson et al return to home soil during the aftermath of a presidential election. And true to life, the show will take place during the transition between two Presidents.

Now living in Brooklyn and working at a foundation providing aid to Muslims residing in the United States, Carrie surely hopes to have left her former life behind – but this is Homeland so we can be certain of three things…

1. Middle-Eastern terrorist shenanigans

2. Carrie will uncover a terrorist plot, but because she’s batshit insane…

3. no-one believes in her. Ever.

This teaser focuses on Carrie’s backstory but still raises many new questions…

The biggest being whether Peter Quinn is alive, dead or brain damaged. Well, while the teaser doesn’t confirm or deny his involvement, actor Rupert Friend confirmed he is onboard for the season with the showrunner adding this at a recent Homeland panel:

“How Peter Quinn’s character is gonna be dramatized this year is going to surprise people, and it may not be what you think…”

— Showrunner, Alex Gansa

In other news, Damien Lewis is filming Billions in New York, so he could conceivably be back! But Brody couldn’t have survived that hanging, could he? Could he? Inconceivable!

Homeland Season Six lands on Showtime on January 15th, 2017.
