HBO has suffered a major cyberattack, with upcoming episodes of several of its shows and scripts leaked online by hackers… and that means Casey Bloys is gonna get medieval on the CTO’s ass.
The hackers claim to have obtained a massive 1.5 terabytes of data and have already released episodes of Ballers and brand new show, Room 104 online as well as a script purpotedly from the fourth episode of most watched TV show ever, Game of Thrones.
An anonymous email was sent to reporters, allegedly from the hackers.
“Hi to all mankind. The greatest leak of cyber space era is happening. What’s its name? Oh I forget to tell. Its HBO and Game of Thrones……!!!!!! You are lucky to be the first pioneers to witness and download the leak. Enjoy it & spread the words. Whoever spreads well, we will have an interview with him. HBO is falling.”
The network replied immediately with a statement confirming the hack on Monday but didn’t say what had been stolen.
“HBO recently experienced a cyber incident, which resulted in the compromise of proprietary information. We immediately began investigating the incident and are working with law enforcement and outside cybersecurity firms. Data protection is a top priority at HBO, and we take seriously our responsibility to protect the data we hold.”
Ironically, the network had recently boasted that GoT was the most pirated show in history! It’s not the first time this worrying trend has occured. Episodes of Orange is the New Black was released when Netflix were hacked and, of course, Sony was hacked in 2014, possibly by North Korea!
Watch out for Game of Thrones: When Pirates Attack on your torrent streams soon!
